I never knew there was so many newspapers and local radios stations here in the Serrania de Ronda.
Anyhow over the last few weeks they have been ringing me up. Two years ago while we were get prepared for the Romeria a youngish couple who had obviously walked from Benaojan sat down at one of our terrace tables and ordered some refreshments.

Whilst wines from Ronda are getting lots of publicity and press at the moment, not everyone realises that closer to our Bar Allioli there are also some superb local wines. Mvres from Atajate produces one of our favourite wines and we are all waiting for the next batch to be uncorked.

Lying on the sea route across the North Sea from Harwich the boats and ferries meander around the island of FANØ. Only 14 km from the north to the south and max 5km across this small island is steeped in history. This is where the elder of the Campbell attempted land speed records. The west beach of FANØ is wide and compact and the local bus runs along the beach. It is home of many famous Danes including singer Johhny Madsen and for a number of years now the old milk depot has been home to FANØ brewery. With the 90's Danish backlash against bland beers there was a Krakatoa type explosion of microbreweries in Danmark.

Last year was great success and we are hoping that this year will be better. The date is set for Saturday October 2nd. The music is nearly booked and the beer is ordered. As well a great German beer we will be featuring beers from Spain and Denmark. I have throughout the past year been smpling different beers and judging their suitabiltity for the Beer festival. I have also set myself the task of flying to Denmark in August to sample beers from Fanø brewery. This is a small island 4km by 14km that boasts a local brewery. Their Christmas beer in 2009 was a pure delight. I am off to bring back a selection of their finest brews. Somebody has to do these chores.

Bar Allioli is proud to present a season of live music in Estacion de Jimera de Libar every Saturday through until 28th August. We have engaged the vocal talents of Marcus - a firm favourite with regulars at Bar Allioli. To beat the crisis we will be offering a €6 per head buffet. Come and enjoy a bite to eat and a cool beer in the shade - the entertainment will start at 2.00pm.
